My Sister’s Kidnapping
It’s was a terrible night in the summer that I have ever had. It was about the second year after America destroyed Saddam’s regime. My parents prepared to visit one of our relatives. My little sister, Sonia, was happy during preparing, so she would go with them. She dressed the new t-shirt that my parents had bought for her. She was asking my little brother Halwest whether her t-shirt is nice or not. Halwest was the same as her. He was preparing to go them. After all, my parents apologized for them because they had to go all alone.
They softly said, “Your aunt’s husband is sick, and we getta visit him.”
“We’ll play with our cousins,” my siblings said happily. “We haven’t seen them for a long time.”
“No way. Your aunt’s husband shouldn’t hear noise at all.” My parents said quietly
With crying in his throat, Halwest said, “So, why are you visiting him, you make noise as well?”
“We have to pray for him when we visit, and if we don’t go we’ll be ashamed.” My parents replayed and left the house after that.
Halwest and Sonia were sitting next to me unhappily. I played with them until I was tired. Then they played themselves and forgot my parents leaving. Suddenly, power went out. I heard Halwest threatening Sonia. Sonia knew that he was playing, so she wanted to continue playing with him and hid herself.
At this time, I thought about one night that my parents left my sister Tara and me all alone when there was no power the same as that night. I was in the fourth or fifth class of primary school, and Tara was in the first class. Our neighbourhood boy, whose family was always angry with because he was very bad with his old parents, came to our house. He had a huge body that people thought he would be in colleges whenever they sew him, but actually he was in middle school. In the darkness, I saw a wall with white cloth moving forward. I couldn’t speak, so I gestured for Tara. We closed door of the living room and start crying. The bear moved his hand and hit the door. Then we called our neighbours to rescue us. The bear moved away the white cloth on his head and start laughing at us. After a lot neighbours came, we opened the door and saw it was Romel, the lazy boy. His old father shouted at him and chased him. His mother tried to make us stop crying. It happened because my parents left us alone.
Parenthood is showing love and care to children more than happiness for themselves. They should tell children stories at nights when it’s the first or the second year for the children. Children are blank papers, so parents should fill them with golden lessons. They should also, take children to playgrounds.
I still don’t understand why some parents leave their children alone at home. It’s necessary for children to see new people, new behaviour, and new places. Parents leave their children, so children have to depend on themselves to learn new things and improve.
Now, the same mistake is gonna happen again. However, this time it was different. I was sitting in the living room the same as past, but Tara was washing dishes in the courtyard. It was said that people kidnap children. My parents didn’t care about it because we were living in a secure place. After a moment when Sonia disappeared, we heard a car was driving too fast on the bubble road in front of our house.
Tara yelled, “Hidayet, Hidayet.”
I went out rapidly and saw Tara with a yellow face crying at me, “It was this car. Get it.” Without asking, I ran after the car quickly, but it was too fast and left the area soon. After running barefoot for a while behind the car, I couldn’t get the car neither could I write the licence number, so I stopped running. At this time, an animation came to my mind that someone dragging my little sister who is face looked like a terrorist with a mask on his head. I went home thinking that the car hit my sister and left her instead kidnapping. I wanted to take her to hospital. During going home, I imagined that a car hit my sister in front of me. My sister’s face is bleeding who was born just one year after Saddam’s regime was destroyed.
I was approaching home when I saw all of my neighbours standing and looking at our home. They came because they heard crying and yelling of Tara. I tried to stop crying during thinking that my little sister God forbidden was dead. When I arrived home, I saw someone trying to stop Tara from crying by saying that Sonia was all right and she is here.
I was looking around and seeing someone saying, “Sonia, were where you?” I couldn’t see her because she was surrounded by people. I was not convinced that she was all right, so tried to get closer and to see her.
I asked, “Where is my butterfly, and how is she?”
After I saw her laughing at us, I dried my tears and kissed her. Then I asked that what had happened. My neighbours answered that nothing had happened.
Then my parents came home. They were shocked when they saw all of neighbours in our house.
“Is everything ok?” they asked rapidly.
The neighbours announced that it was nothing except a fear. Then they told the story at the beginning until the end.
After the event my parents never left us alone. Moreover, they got a lesson from that. Now, they care about us more than anything. Parents should care about their children a lot because childhood time is a time that children learn new things. They have to be taught firstly by their parents. Children learn from parents’ behaviours, then from siblings. Parents should care about their children, so when they grow up, children care about them as well.
